After the Dive

A single droplet lingers, suspended for a heartbeat beneath the bill of the Greylag Goose. Moments earlier, that head was submerged, grazing on aquatic plants hidden below the surface.

Powerful yet unhurried, this species feeds by tipping forward or dipping its long neck beneath the water, tearing at vegetation with a serrated bill perfectly adapted for the task. The rich orange of the beak and the calm, steady eye betray no urgency – only method.

In the still blue of open water, even a falling drop becomes part of the rhythm of survival.
