The Forager of the Forest

After a successful hunt among the branches, the great spotted woodpecker returns to its tree. In its beak, a fresh caterpillar—soft and full of nourishment. Just to the left, barely visible in the shadows, the nest cavity awaits, where hungry, unseen chicks chirp in anticipation. This is a moment repeated countless times a day during the breeding season, as parents tirelessly ferry food to their young. It is a quiet, vital ritual—nature’s devotion in feathered form.
