A Thrush with Attitude

The fieldfare is a striking thrush with a mix of warm brown, gray, and black plumage, making it easy to identify among its relatives. These social birds often form flocks in winter, foraging on berries and fallen fruit. Unlike many other thrushes, they aggressively defend their feeding areas, sometimes even chasing away larger birds. Their sharp, chattering calls are a familiar sound in open woodlands and fields, where they perch high to keep an eye on their surroundings.
