The great cormorant has, unlike many waterbirds, webbed feet with strong, clawed toes, allowing it to efficiently propel itself underwater. These feet also help it perch securely on branches and rocky ledges.
During breeding season, cormorants build large nests made of sticks, reeds, and even human debris, often reusing the same nesting sites year after year. They are highly social birds, frequently forming large colonies where they communicate with a mix of deep grunts and hissing sounds.
