The white wagtail is a restless forager, constantly bobbing its tail as it searches for insects along riverbanks, fields, and urban spaces. This behavior helps it startle small prey into movement, making them easier to catch. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a long-distance migrant, traveling thousands of kilometers between breeding and wintering grounds. Agile and adaptable, it even follows plows and grazing animals to snatch up insects from freshly turned soil.
